Elevator standards and their types
Due to accidents caused by elevator design, production, and installation in the past, the Iranian Standards Organization launched a system for elevator management and inspection in 1998. After the formulation of national regulations, the implementation of elevator standards became mandatory in 2004 , and all owners were required to obtain the necessary permits. Elevator standards are divided into two main categories:
- A) Initial Elevator Standard:
This standard is required to obtain a building completion permit.
It determines that the installed elevator (in residential, office or commercial buildings)
complies with the standard requirements.
- B) Periodic Elevator Standard:
To ensure the proper functioning of the elevator, building managers and owners are required to inspect and renew the standard
every year . This inspection ensures that the elevator system is in a safe and standard condition.
The process of obtaining an initial standard usually takes between 20 and 30 days , while renewing a periodic standard takes about 10 to 30 days .
